Title: Buffalo Drivestation Slow Startup
Post by: phantom8 on March 25, 2010, 08:00:52 AM

I've just purchased a DriveStation 1TB external drive (HD-CE1.0TU2).  Whenever I connect the drive to a PC, the green LED keep flashing for about 40-45 seconds before my computer can recognize the drive.  I've tested this on 2 different computer and the fastest time was 40 seconds.   Is this normal?  Or is it defective?

Doesn't seem like a defective drive, try a different usb cable maybe. Lookout for grinding or clicking noises in the drive though those would more likely equate to a drive you would want to return.

There is no abnormal noise from the drive, except the regular spin up noise.   Can any Drivestation user test their HDD and see if it's normal for it to take over 40 seconds to startup?  May a Buffalo moderator can help to answer this question?  There must be some users in this forum using this drive.  Thanks!
