Title: terastation TS-XL, can't browse in explorer using host name, can only access by IP
Post by: suipianlar on March 23, 2010, 04:43:31 AM

my office is using terastation ts-xl as our files server.

we have been accessing it using windows explorer browser via hostname, and give us no problem.

after a few weeks, we do not actually know when, it can not be accessed with the assigned hostname anymore.

although we r now using ip to access, but we would prefer to use hostname, as it is more friendly and easy to remember.

i do not know what went wrong, whether if it is because of wrong setting or bug as reported by some users in some internet forums. It was setup by the vendor, and he got no idea too.

is there anyway to solve this problem?

Its an issue with your DNS server, get your network admin to have a look at it. The server is failing to resolve the hostname to the Terastations IP. If you create a new DNS entry for the Terastation this should solve your issue.
