Title: LS-CHL Unable to Turn On
Post by: utee05 on March 22, 2010, 06:40:56 PM

Hi,

I was trying to update my firmware and I kept getting errors saying that it is unable to find the drive during the firmware update. I then rebooted the drive and I got red flashing lights. I then tried to do a forced firmare and no luck, still got red lights. I tried to do EM boot and no luck. I then TFTP boot was able to serve the blocks. I then tried to flash the firmware but it was not able to find the device. I went ahead and rebooted the drive and now it doesn't even boot up. Right now I just want to be able to get most of my data back. Any suggestions?

At this point I am not concerned about recovering the data. I am tempted to take out the drive and mount it on my Linux machine to see if I can format the drive and then do TFTP to load back the boot info and then flash the 1.07 firmware. Has this been done before and if so it is pretty straightforward?

I dissambled the linkstation and mounted the drive on my linux machine. I was able to see the partitions of the disk and read data from there without any issues. This has narrowed down my issue to not being the HD. What steps should I do now to get my linkstation up and running? Should I just format the entire HD or is there some partition I can modify to get the linkstation booting up again. Is it also possible that I bricked something and it just won't work anymore?
