Hi
I just got a Buffalo Linkstation Live LS-CHLv2 firmware 1.21 NAS connected via ethernet into my wireless router (CISCO cable modem/wireless router)
I have setup the MediaServer and can see the MediaServer's HTTP web-browse interface with both wired and wireless clients.
Unfortunately I can only see the MediaServer as a UPnP service for clients with wired connections.
For example, if I connect an ethernet cable from my laptop to the router - the MediaServer appears in Windows Media Player
If I remove the cable and just use wireless, it is no longer visible.
So I'm guessing whatever way UPnP way the MediaServer broadcasts its location isn't making it from wired to wireless.
I'm hoping this is just a router configuration issue and that someone may have seen this sort of thing before.
Cheers,
Fergal.
I think the problem is with the CISCO Cable Wireless Router (from UPC Ireland).
It'll bridge lots of traffic between the wired and wireless nets, but the SSDP messages MediaServer/Twonky uses to advertise UPnP/DLNA don't seem to make it from wired to wireless subnets on this CISCO router. At least I thinkt that's it, but I'm networking-lite.
There doesn't seem to be an obvious way to turn this on with the CISCO router, but I have an old ASUS wireless router and so I've turned-off the wireless AP on the CISCO router and connected the ASUS into the CISCO. The ASUS WL510g is obviously just a better router, now the MediaServer can be seen by wireless clients (laptop, Pure Evoke Flow radio) - no problem - and I can have my media streamed directly from the NAS - fantastic!
