Title: Error message when backup to tape
Post by: sbcadv on March 19, 2010, 07:24:52 AM

We have a Terastation TS-HTGL

4 x1000GB Raid 5...

FIRMWARE is 1.27

Tape backup is registering errors in ops log and drive 3 is now complaining about 111 bad sectors and now I have 5000 files (50GB) that are not being backed up due to accessibility issues. What are my options?

Can  I order a replacement drive from Buffalo and just pull the drive with bad sectors out and and install the new drive and have the data rebuilt or am I screwed?

thanks

Raid 5 makes it so you can replace a drive and rebuild it into the array. You don't have to order one through us you can use any standard 1tb sata drive but if the unit is under warranty we can do a warranty replacement (RMA) on the individual drive. If the issue is just bad sectors you could also format the drive then try rebuilding it into the array.

Cheers
