Title: Update TeraStation Live Firmware--SOLVED!
Post by: jcaspar1 on March 14, 2010, 04:32:08 PM

I have been unable to update the firmware on my TeraStation Live as the TSUpdater.exe program could never recognize my TeraStation while the NAS Navigator had no problem.Tried everything (crossover cable, restoring factory settings, etc)

I finally I noticed in the firmware folder that the updater program is labeled TSUpdater.exe while the ini file is labeled lsupdater.ini

By changing the name of the ini file from lsupdater.ini to tsupdater.ini the updater immediately recognised my TeraStation and updated the firmware.

So if you have been driven crazy trying to update your TeraStartion Live (HS-DHTGL), it's not you, it is just that the ini file is mislabeled!!!!

Thank you for pointing that out.  We will try to get it fixed!

August and still not fixed.

I found all I had to do was rename lsupdater.ini to anything else and TSUpdater located the device.

However I now wonder what else might be wrong, so I am afraid to attempt the Firmware update.

I have almost 3 Terabytes on the device.

We submitted the request to have the file repacked.  I'll re-send the request.

UPDATE: In the meantime the previously posted solution worked for one so why are you afraid to try the update?

Thanks for the response.

Afraid:

1. Updating the firmware is probably a precarious operation - failure could leave me with no access to my data.

2. I cannot find a description of what changes this firmware offers - so I don't know if I need it or if it will fix my problem.

3. The fact that the download was incorrect and yet not fixed for many months after the problem was known doesn't make

      me confident.

Despite this, per your suggestion I started update.

The first window it presented showed me that it thinks my Terastation has Version 2.14-1.02 which is

exactly the version this update says it will install.

So how did I get here, I should have looked at what version my system was running.

Well unfortunately, the system says 2.14.  NASNavigator (2.28) also says Firmware is 2.14.

But the updater say 2.14-1.02.

I'm confused - which program is correct?

I'm not going to update.

Thanks,

DD

the sub versions  2.14-1.02, are not listed in the NasNavi, just the FW updates. looks like you already have the latest update.

remember to always have a backup prior to installing or changing anything on storage devices or computer.

Check using the Nas Navigator if the firmware has been updated, if it has then you can close the Window.
