Post by: angelosw9 on March 09, 2010, 11:09:39 AM
Hi, this thread seem to have been edited and now is blank http://forums.buffalotech.com/t5/Storage/FAQ-3-of-3-TFTP-boot-procedure-please-read-this/m-p/11015 i used it succesfully in february to replace the harddisk to a linkstation live ls-chl. I now have another linkstation live that needs fixing but can't get it to enter TFTP mode, i don't remember the procedure 100%.. please, anyone knows how to do it ? regards Angelo

That link still works for me.  Try a different web browser.

Hi, sorry I should have titled the topic LS-CHL v2 TFTP boot, wonder if it can be changed.

I've managed to do the TFTP boot but...

normally with LS-DHGL and LS-CHL v1 if i put a blank HDD in the linkstation after i do TFTP i can see the box with nasnavigator

and use lsupdater to partition, format and install everything.

with this LS-CHL v2 after the TFTP boot both nasnavigator and lsupdater can't find the linkstation.

( have tried both device id 12 and 18 with fw v1.24 )

i'm a bit lost here...

does anybody know what version the factory firmware is and if it still avaible to download somewhere ?

also, which is the right device id 12 or 18 ? ( this is the v2 64mb ram version )

ps: i've used the same TFTP server LS-DHGL, LS-CHL v1 and LS-CHL v2, taking the 2 .buffalo files from their respective firmares.

I managed to get TFTP working but lsupdater still won't work. i've done this many times with the older stile ls-live (old square ones) and on LS-CHLv1... fit new HDD >> TFTP boot then LSupdater with LS-CHLv2 fit new HDD >> TFTP boot (ok) >>LSupdater ( not working ) nas navigator shows the box in EM mode but it doesn't identify the model. i suppose i could rebuild the HDD connecting it directly to the pc .... Please, does anyone have info about the partitions and what files are in them ??
