Title: Linkstation Quad to Linkstation Quad backup protocol for renamed files/folders
Post by: gromf on March 06, 2010, 12:31:23 AM

I periodically backup a large amount of data from one LS Quad to another using Overwrite Backup Differential mode.  I just renamed a folder on the source drive that contains over 500GB of data.  When I got to backup, will the backup software treat the difference (the rename) as a rename? Or will it instead perceive it as a deleted and then added folder, which will lead to a lot of extraneous data being deleted/re-copied?

Thanks.

It will not treat it as a rename. It will treat it as a new folder and have to delete the old one because of the change. And then rewrite the whole folder.

This might be a little off topic, but I'm having a VERY hard time setting up our main LinkStation 4TB Quad, to backup to our other identical LinkStation. How did you do it? I can't seem to get it working via the Web Admin pages.
