Title: Linkstation Duo - Wireless connection to PS3
Post by: asruk on March 02, 2010, 08:03:46 AM

Hi,

I took delivery of the Linkstation (LS-WX) a few days ago and all seems OK. So I expect I've missed the obvious.

However I am unable to get my PS3 to see the Linkstation Duo as a Media Server over a wireless connection. If I connect the PS3 via ethernet to the router then it sees the linkstation and can access files OK.  The PS3 connects wirelessly to the internet via my router with no problem. The two devices are in separate rooms so wireless is essential.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

You will need to have the media server enabled on the specific shared folder by logging into the gui using the ip address of the buffalo, login with admin and password.  Then go to extensions and then media server, enable it for that shared folder.  There should be no difference in connecting you ps3 to the network and the bufffalo wired or wireless, there is a chance you are connecting to someone elses wireless network and then you cannot connect properly.

Thanks for the reply, I will check the folders are shared.

I agree there should be no difference connecting via cable or wirelessly, unless the router has a strange setting I havent spotted, but the PS3 sees a PC with DLNA off the same router, so I suppose this proves the basic set up is OK.

I know the PS3 is connecting to my home network. I have MAC registration, and security, and the linkstation sees it and it is allowed.

Hi,

just an update, I tried the advise without success. I've spent a few hours now trying to resolve, with no luck. So I've took the easy option I hope and ordered a couple of powerline adapters.

I recently purchased a 2tb LinkStation Duo.  I have it set up as RAID 1.  I have a PS3 and Denon AVR-4810CI audio/video receiver that are wirelessly connected to my home network.  The linkstation is connected via ethernet to my netgear DSL router.  I am able to "see" the linkstation from both devices (PS3 & Denon) but when I attempt to access my music files via the PS3, I get a message that states "no tracks found". When I try to access the music files from the Denon, it waits about 20 secs and kicks me back to the main menu.  I am able to access and play the music files on the linkstation from my computer.  I am able to access and play the music files I have on my computer using winamp as my media server from the PS3 and Denon.  I just can't seem to access the music files on the linkstation from the PS3 or Denon.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
