Hello. New to forums and not super-techy.

Suddenly Windows 10 Pro is asking me for credentials to access my LS-CHL, which when entered correctly, still says are invalid. I originally thought this might have something to do with the LS using an older SMB protocol (SMB1 maybe?) that may no longer be supported by Windows 10. So I reenabled SMB1 using a process I found on a Microsoft site, but I'm still having this issue. I realize the LS-CHL an older model, but it's served me well. At this point I'd be happy to upgrade to a newer model, but am concerned that I won't be able to access the files to transfer them. Any ideas?

Most likely a recent update to Windows disabled SMB version 1 and that older LinkStation doesn't support SMB version 2.

Thanks. That was my thought as well. I did take steps to reinstall/enable SMBv1 in Windows (and rebooted), but still no luck.

In case this may help someone at some point, I think I may have figured out a solution:

1. Search for/open (Run as Administrator) Network and Sharing Center.
2. Click Change advance sharing settings.
3. Select dropdown next to All Networks.
4. Select Enable file sharing for devices that use 40- or 56-bit encryption.
5. Select Save changes.

Windows 10 once again recognizes my credentials and I can once again access my password-protected file folders through Explorer.

I'm guessing the latest Windows update changed this setting.
