Trying to transfer files from my PC hard drive to to a brand new LinkStation Duo w/firmware rev 1.24
PC is Dell Core 2 6400 @ 2.13GHz, 2GB RAM, Vista 32-bit, HDD is NTFS, hooked up to web via wireless
PC is hooked up to web via wireless, but is connected directly to the LinkStation Duo via supplied network cable
Set up as Raid 1 (mirrored)
Was only getting 250-300kbps with transfers taking so long this is unusable....
Rebooted PC and power cycled LS Duo to start fresh, but now LS Duo is Re-Syncing and trasfer has dropped further to <100kbps.
1) Shouldn't direct connection to PC via LAN provide good speeds?
If not, how else should I connect?
2) How long could the re-syncing take?
I only had ~280MB (not GB) copied over so far, but it has been doing this for over an hour...
3) What other settings can I cahnge to help these horrific speeds?
Thanks in advance.
I think the problem lies into running two different network adapters. I would recommend putting the linkstation on the network(connected to the router with ethernet cable) and use it that way by mapping the ip address of the linkstation on the pc and transfering files on the network, without running both nics on that computer at the same time.
Thanks for the response.
Having probelms with the router ports on my wireless, they might be fried.
Can I test your theory by just disabling my wireless adapter and seeing if the speeds increase?
Or would I need to change additional settings?
you can disable the wireless adapter and see if that helps
Disabled wireless adapter, but no change.
According to Windows, it will take 25min to copy just 250MB, and I need to back up another 250GB...
My cheapo USB backup HDD is much faster than this. What else can I try?
Any help is appreciated.
see if there are any firewall or antivirus programs runnign that could get in the way. Try it from another pc and see if this issue persists.
Thanks so much for the suggestion.
McAfee virus protection was the gate.
Now running ~9MBps even with the firewall and wireless adapter re-enabled.
Is this speed about right for my setup?
