Title: Linkstation timers
Post by: jamesholden on February 26, 2010, 08:21:22 PM

Hi all, quick question.

I use a pair of Linkstations, one is on all the time and another i've set to come on for an hour or so each day to backup the other drive.

I've noticed that if the backup is too large to be completed before the sleep timer is due to turn it off, the log shows the backup having completed after the sleep timer (e.g. if the drive is set to sleep at 03:00, but the backup over ran and the log showed it as completing at 05:00), then must go to sleep when completed because it's off when I get up in the morning.

Is this a feature, and should I reduce the sleep timer to save energy to say 15 minutes, because if the backup is still running the drive would stay on until it's finished anyway, or is there something i'm missing?

I would recommend setting the sleep timer to go to sleep at 5:30 just to make sure the job completes properly.
