Title: Help with TS-RIGL/R5 iSCSI
Post by: Farhan on February 25, 2010, 05:47:11 AM

Dear all,

I had recently purchase TS-RIGL/R5 8TB iSCSI Rackmount which i am using to store disk images for all my servers. The TS i am planing to move OFFSITE. But instead i am thinking if i remove all the HDD in proper order, label them, number them and move to OFFSITE, what will happen when i will put those HDD back in TS? lets say after weeks or month. Will they be considered new HDD or will TS recoqnise them and retain the original RAID 5 , along all the data?. is there any way i can backup the RAID 5 configuration and keep it along those HDD, which i can restore back. What if i replace all original HDD with another set of HDD ? i have to recreate RAID5 array ? and what if put back original HDD set?

I really wanted to try this on my  own unit but had already started imaging.

Appreciated any informative comments.

Best Regards

Farhan Parkar

Since the firmware is located on the drives, this SHOULD work. However, it is not supported. I HIGHLY recommend testing it before relying on it for backups of important data.
