Title: Email notifications TS-XL/R5 Series
Post by: TREK on September 12, 2022, 05:53:23 AM
I have two Buffalo NAS devices, the older a TS-XEL/R5 series, and the newer a TS-XL/R5 series (what's the difference between XL and XEL?).  The XL/R5 is configured as RAID5 and contains my production data.  The XEL/R5 is configured as JBOD.  I am using replication (NAS-to-NAS) to maintain a real-time copy of my data on the XEL/R5 "just in case" (I've had a multiple drive RAID5 error in the past and had to have Buffalo recover the data).  I've tested this by swapping NAS devices, and it works as expected.  I have configured mail notification identically on both, and test emails from both are received correctly.  The problem is that only the older XEL/R5 sends a scheduled (at 12:00am) report, whereas the XL/R5 does not.  Both have up to date firmware (v 1.76).  Looking at the System log on both, I note that the XEL/R5 has log entries every 0.5 hours indicating CPU utilization, whereas the XL/R5 does not.  Both devices utilize the same time server, and have correct date/time settings.  I know just barely enough about Linux to be dangerous, but was kind of wondering if the CRON process is even running on the XL/R5.  Anyhow, anyone have any suggestions for further troubleshooting?
