Title: Link Station Quad (LS-QL/1D) not detected on network
Post by: gohmedia on February 18, 2010, 08:19:10 AM

Got my Link station yesterday and it was working perfectly fine, but after powering down and turning back on again, the power LED started to flash red for 6-7 times. I tried to reset to the factory settings, but NasNavi was not able to detect the NAS on the network. Pinging did not work either. I could'nt find the TFTP exe for this model, so was unable to do TFTP. What are my options?

BTW, I am also unable to switch the NAS off now, somehow pressing the power button for 8 seconds doesnt work and I have to pull the power plug to turn it off.

Update -  I managed to find the firmware and TFTP exe. I just TFTP-ed the NAS and it's working again. Did not update the firmware though, since everything is working fine. Thank goodness. I'm never going to turn it off again!

And it booted normally off of the TFTP??  I find that hard to believe, what does it say for your current firmware version according to the NASNAVI?

The firmware is currently 1.11

OK,  I would backup the data and try the firmware update (maybe a forced update).  You should be able to turn the unit off without worry..

But I'm already running 1.11. So you're saying the power issue maybe fixed if I reinstall the firmware?

Another issue popped up yesterday. I currently have 2 x 1tb drives installed in slot 1 and 2 running at raid 1. When I tried slotting in a 300gb drive into the 3rd slot, the light turns green, but the disk shows up as 'disconnected' on the Disk Manager. Do I need to format the hard disk first before I plug it in? It currently contains a win xp installation with NTFS.

It's not necessarily a power issue, it just means that the unit isn't booting.

First, this is not something that we support.  You problem is that the firmware is not on the drive.  Once again try the TFTP procedure to get the firmware on the drive or restructure it back into the array.  Also these units use XFS not NTFS
