Hello,
I'm evaluating different NAS solutions for backing up some servers, and seems like TS-III would perfectly fit my needs.
Just a couple of questions, I'll be probably using the TS-III as a backup "dumpster" before streaming the data to a tape library.
- Is it better to have the NAS edition (not the iSCSI one) to let then a target machine, where the tape is hooked to, to access all backup directories? (because with iSCSI i can't safely share LUNs between machines)
- Has the "real-time replication" function been implemented, and is it working fine? any doc around?
("The real-time replication function allows the connection of a second Buffalo TeraStation™ via the USB or LAN port and replicates the data to improve reliability, fault tolerance or accessibility.") I would then completely drop the tape library unit, keeping two TS-3 in two different locations replicating one to the other.
thank you
John
