Title: dead drive on LS-QL F/W
Post by: jseber1982 on February 13, 2010, 04:34:14 PM

Alright so i bought this a few months ago.. transfered everything onto it from my old nas and got rid of the old one.

I wake up this morning to see a 6 interval red light blink. I looked it up and it means a dead drive.

If this was real raid 5... i would be able to still access my shares, with degraded performance.

Instead i can get into the share but no data is present anymore.. just the torrent folder.

So is all of my data gone? Or will it pop back up after i replace the dead drive.

I just rebooted it and it has said this for the past hour "Currently a Format or Disk Check is being carried out.
During this time the LinkStation settings can not be changed.
Also the file share service will not be available."... with the red 6 blink still going

Let it complete the disk/raid check and see if it self corrects it self.  If not call in with a receipt ready to setup a replacement drive.  Your data should still be intact in degrade mode.  But if a drive fails very badly then it can take the entire raid array with it.
