Title: Linkstation Live in EM mode
Post by: rayropes on February 12, 2010, 08:49:39 PM

Is there anything I can do to get my data off my drive? I'm on my last nerve with this NAS.  I haven't even had it  one year and it has never operated like I believe it should.  Besides losing a network connection while trying to copy data and trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong, now the drive only boots into EM mode.  I restored the drive to default mode 2 months ago to try to fix things (I haven't even changed the password) but all of a sudden all the computers with NASNavigator tell me the drive is in EM mode.  I have tried 2 different computers to force a flash upgrade but the updater doesn't work on my new Windows 7 machine & the other machine ends in an "acp_state_failure".  From what I have read in the forums this is basically the end of my drive but is there anything I can do to recover my data other than contacting a 3rd party vendor and voiding my warranty?

Nothing that doesnt void your warranty.  You can explore hooking the drive up to a linux machine or using software like UFS explorer to recover the data, but this requires disassmebling the unit and thus voids the warranty.
