Title: simple way to reactivate empty TS5400?
Post by: NoClue on August 01, 2022, 05:13:21 AM
Dear all,

my TS5400 (4*4GB HDDs, current firmware) is running well.
As I´m quite satisfied with this machine I bought an empty second one which I´ve completed with 4*4GB WD red HDDs.
Unfortunatly I´m unable to bring this one to life via USB-Stick Recovery from machine1

Question:
Is it possible to put Disk A from the running machine to the new machine with three new HDD to bring this to life?
(than put Disk A back to machine 1 and complete machine2 with the fourth HDD?)

I´m really no computer freak and I´m afraid of loosing data ...and kill machine1 in the end...
Kind regards from Germany
Björne

Your TS5400DN should be functionally identical to the TS5800DN. There is a well documented recovery process by one of the board members for a TS5800DN. Following that prescribed process should get your TS5400DN up and running.

The process outline is located at the following link under "stock firmware installation":
