Hi, first post and complete newbie so please accept my lack of knowledge in advance!
I recently installed windows 7, I use my linkstation to store my backup data and music, videos etc on my network.
Anyway, when I log into windows 7, i have mapped my drives so they appear on my computer and when i click onto them the files open and can be viewed etc.
WHere the problem arises is say with itunes. The music is stored on the NAS and unless I double click into the share folder before I go into itunes it says location not available
Is there a way I can tell windows to automatically connect to the drives each time I start up the computer, its more for my Mrs. as she will get confused and damage something!
I have just logged onto windows now and haven't accessed the drives yet so when I click on windows explorer the network location has a big red cross on it. If I click on it, it opens automatically with out passwords etc but I want it to automatically connect without me having to click on it. Hopes that makes sense and thanks in advance for assistance.
Some further info:-
I just remapped the drives and then switched off windows for a few minutes. When i started windows up again i received the message "could not reconnect all network drives". Is this a windows 7 error and can it be easily resolved?
Try setting the linkstation to a static IP. Then remap the drives and check "automatically reconnect at log on". In terms of having to access the folder to use the media with itunes, I am not sure as I don't use itunes, maybe one of our other users can help out with that one.
