Title: Problems accessing from outside my network?
Post by: ICANSEEYOU7687 on February 01, 2010, 07:12:08 PM

I live on a college campus and am trying to get this to work.  I have kind of picked up the project where it was left off by someone else... from what I udnerstand.....

our school has opened up the IP address that the switch is on to be able to use some of the simple main ports.... port 80, 21, 20... etc...  and I cannot access the terrastation via FTP from an outside IP address (and it is directly on the internet. not through a router or anything)

I was reading and saw that maybe I need to open port 9000 also, but thsi seems like it is only for the web access.  Any suggestions? thanks

Yes 9000 is for web access.  They might have a firewall or something blocking it.  Are you using a FTP client?

Yes, im trying to find out why I can access it on our network, but not from outside.  It is directly on the internet, and not behind a router.

some mroe useful settings you might want to know...

I took off DHCP and I put everything into manually.  Also I noticed uPNP is turned off.  Which i might try turning this on in a second andd see what happens...

Also I cannot get the navigator to detect it.

My model number (according to the back sticker is

HS-DH0.0TGL/R5

I cannot find this on the site anywhere... its a terrastation

Are you getting any error/info lights?  Also makes sure the firewalls are disabled.

No error lights, and no firewall.

"No error lights, and no firewall."

If this is the case then the NASNAVI should have no problem detecting the unit (assuming it's on the same network)

Do you have the FTP server enabled on the Nas?

Make sure under shared folders and service setup you have the FTP server Enabled.
