Hi
I have a brand new 1.0 TB Drivestation HD-CEU2 I have read that there was a firmware problem to do with losing files after standby so I thought I would update my firmware before I started using it. However I can not seem to get the firmware.exe to work I have saved it to my desk top I have no other USB devise plugged in I run the CEU2_FWUP_302.exe from the desktop click on search and nothing happens. I then tried running it from the drive itself but that didn't work either. So how do i do the update also how can I tell what firmware is already on the drive as perhaps it doesn't even need updating
Mel
Hi,
Do you have the serial number of your unit so I can check if your unit needs firmware update?
The update currently pertain to 1st batches of Drivestation HD-CEU2.
The latestes drivestation do not need the firmware updates.
Hi
The serial number on the box is 55287591201522 I purchased this in Australia last week so I would have thought that the firmware update would have been done however it was on special so I'm a little worried that it is old stock they are clearing in which case it may not have the update.
Thanks
Mel
I think your unit is not the 1st batch of Drivestation cos the 1st batch was release arnd end of 2008 to abt feb 2009.
Your s/n indicates yours is in May 2009 so the firmware does not apply to your unit.
Excellent I will now get busy copying my files to it.
:) :) :)
Thanks for the help
Mel
good day, i have the same situation as the thread starter, bought my unit recently but its on sale so might be old stock, appreciate anybody who can help check if my serial number already has the current firmware - SN - 5528-6900-3004-75
thanks in advance
i would also ask if its possible to lay the device flat on my table? which side should be on top? it looks good standing up but i fear i might hit it so i prefer i to lay flat, thanks
We can't check the firmware by serial number (if there's a problem with the drive functionality I would suggest updating anyway). If you're looking to lay the device on it's side the ventilation isn't out the sides (from an upright orientation) but out the top and back of the unit. In short it shouldn't matter which side you lay it on.
thanks for the quick reply, now i know its safe to lay the unit on the side...
on muy other issue, is it possible to find out then if my unit was manufactured after the first batch? i assume this is possible with the earlier responses to this thread... highly appreciate the assistance, thanks
i have no problem so far with the unit, its just 2 days old, but i just want to be sure i have the current firmware before i start transferring huge files... i tried updating but same thing happened to me as the thread starter, i'll just quote him...
"I can not seem to get the firmware.exe to work I have saved it to my desk top I have no other USB devise plugged in I run the CEU2_FWUP_302.exe from the desktop click on search and nothing happens. I then tried running it from the drive itself but that didn't work either. "
thanks again :)
If the firmware of the device matches the firmware updater then it won't find the device that needs updating because it already has it. So chances are the latest firmware is already on that unit.
