Had this problem for over a year now.....It appears that my dad cannot connect to my terrastation from his location but all my other friends can.....Even buffalo support confirmed it works......OK so thats my problem every single time my dad gets "cannot display web page" in Internet Explorer on Windows 7. He connects to the internet using telstra Cable broadband service. I checked his modem and wireless router and enabled https. Modem is motorrola 900 and router linksys........He can get to the page that asks for the name of the terrastation but after clicking connect he gets message above.......So i am at a lost......Buffalo dont want to know because they say its working and telstra are completely useless......Anyone have any ideas??
Please
Does he have any anti-virus or firewall software runnning? Have him try Firefox instead of IE.
Yer i can do, but i went through this with him already....Had him disable all firewalls and also tried firefox & still no joy. Every thing points to something telstra are blocking at his end.......I don't know how to prove this though.......Perhaps I could ask him to run a traceroute from his connection but not sure what that gets us.......I also had him connect to my terrastation using ftp client and it worked.......Its just the web page will not display the webpage at the terrastation at his end........Still clueless????
Do you have another computer/laptop and bring it to his place to test it out and see if it can access your NAS?
Yep I tried that one too but same result on two other systems......:-(
Just to check
".....It appears that my dad cannot connect to my terrastation from his location but all my other friends can....."
Are your friends also using Telstra cable service?
Try connecting directly to the motorola modem instead of the router to see if it works.
Another thing is to probably "change" the cable modem and test and that is only if your friends are using the same service and it works.
The short answer is No....They all have ADSL or ADSL 2+ regular phone ISP services......I don't know anyone else using telstra bigpond cable service to try and connect......This would be a good test though?
Hmmmm well I don't have a spare modem to test with. I would need a cable modem not necassarily the same as the one he currently uses......I think your suggesting I disconnect the linksys router and plug in a wired connection directly from cable modem to say his labtop and retry? That I think I can do but will he need to change network IP (static/dynamic, DNS etc) for the laptop to still acccess the internet?
