I apologize for the inconviece that has caused you. This is how we set them up in the US. Lets make sure that you have all the right settings. Also what firmware version do you have?
Login to the web configuration page of the LinkStation Live. Once the LinkStation Live is running nice on 'Web Access'->'Service Setup'. There are 8 options on this page.
Web Access Service
HTTPS/SSL Encryption
Use BuffaloNAS.com
BuffaloNAS.com Name
BuffaloNAS.com Key
DNS Hostname
Auto-Configure Firewall (UPnP)
External Port
Web Access Service needs to be set to 'enable'. HTTPS/SSL Encryption can be set to enable, or disable. If it is set to enable the connection will be slower, but it will be more secure. Use BuffaloNAS.com should also be set to enable. You will then enter something of your choosing nice apply.
If you get an error message about UPnP you will have to set it to disable and manually setup port nice Apply again.
Keep in mind, you cannot use Admin as a username to login to Web Access. This is a security nice Add User.
You may also need to enable your nice on the folder you'd like to allow for Web Access, and there will be a drop down menu. Change it from disable to Allow All Groups/Users. This allows only the username you've added to access the files. You can also set it on Allow Anonymous if you'd like anyone to be able to access it, or if you've turned on Access Restrictions on that folder, you can set it to Inherit Permissions.
Hi Josh, Thanks nice is when I get the error message. Its a timeout but I don't know the cause of it. Is it because my broadband connection is slow or is it something to do with my firewall or is it something to do with the NAS unit ? Am I the only person to have this problem ? Thanks
IF you have a firewall turn it off and any anti-virus software. If you would like I can test it on my end. PM me your buffalonas.com name and setup a test user with the username of test and the password test. Also which browser are you using?
Thanks. I'll PM you after having created a new user this evening. Many thanks.
Not a problem. Just as a side note. The revisions on your unit are very diffrent from what we have over here. Some of the trouble shooting steps we have over here can actually void your warranty over there so we do have to be very careful:smileyhappy:
