Title: TeraStation TS3400D SMB2.1 or SMB3 support
Post by: michael-shes on April 17, 2022, 03:47:48 AM
Is there SMB2.1 or SMB3 support for TeraStation TS3400D, how can that be enabled instead of the current SMBv2.0 ?

No and it can't unless you install Debian onto it.

In the ancient past I have played around with manually compiling/installing newer versions into stock firmware on similar devices, it's usually more trouble than it's worth. You may have seen others on here post about enabling smbv2 on devices that don't normally support it when/if the version of the samba on the device otherwise supports it, that might be worth looking at though that also comes with it's own problems.

If you install Debian on the device you can start with a modern version of Samba which supports the latest version of the protocols, though that also comes with it's own challenges.

Thank you for the suggestions, it is a customer NAS so he wont be able to install Debian, we will ask him to copy the files in a different way/solution.
