Title: Printer Status Not Showing Using LS-Pro Duo
Post by: jk17 on January 23, 2010, 09:20:14 AM

I have a Linkstation Pro Duo LS-WTGL/R1 with firmware 3.10.  I have my Canon i9900 hooked up and can print fine.  The one problem is that I cannot see the printer status monitor.  I can see a print job in the printer queue when I click on the status monitor and I see a message "Collecting Printer Status".  However, a "printer not responding" message is returned.  When hooked up to the PC directly everything is fine.

Any help?  Is this a Canon driver issue or a limitation of the USB Print server in the Linkstation?

You need to make sure that the Printer is not a "muti" functional printer and cannot use post script.

It is not a multi-function and not post-script.  I'm using the latest stock Canon driver.  From what I have been reading on other sites the issue is usually that the print server is not bi-directional.

So is this LS-Pro Duo print server bi-directional?  If not, is this a hardware limitation or can it be upgraded through firmware (3.11 anyone!!).  As I stated before, I have firmware 3.10 currently installed.

Thanks.

It should work then.  I would update to the lastest firmware and then ReInit the unit and set it back up.

Still does not work.  I already have firmware 3.10b installed on the NAS.  I uninstalled the printer and then did an initialize on the NAS.  Once the NAS restarted I re-installed the printer per the instructions in the manual.  When I check the status monitor a window opens that says "collecting status" then a minute later I get the message "printer not responding."  If I display the print queue there is a 9 byte file named Remote Downlevel Document.  I can print to the printer fine.  It is just the status monitor that does not work.  I therefore can't see ink levels, etc.  A test page shows a printer name of \\LS-PRODUO\lp and a model of Canon i9900.  All other functions (I did a nozzle check) seem to work.

Is the print server bi-directional?

Unfortunetly no the print server is not bi-directional.

Not being bi-directional, is that a hardware limitation or something that could conceivably be added via a firmware update?

Thanks.
