I purchased a Buffalo Model # HD-CE1.0TLU2 Drive Station today. The product advertises that it comes with the Memeo Autobackup software, but the version of the Memeo software I got was completely non-functional with almost no documentation. When I started it, it did absolutely nothing even after installing it several times. I went to the Memeo website and downloaded a replacement and the software I downloaded from the Memeo site worked fine. It looks like I got a very old version of the software with the Buffalo drive. How can I get this rectified?

Looks like you got your problem solved by updating to the latest version of your software. Are you running into any other issues?
You didn't mention anything about your OS - do you have Win7? If you purchased a product that's been on the shelves since before win7 was officially release, then you could have a version that didn't support win7. Retailers do not always refresh their products, when OSs get refreshed. You did the right thing - posting, asking, and going to memeo for the latest version.
If you buy a product off the shelf - you don't know how long the product has been on the shelf - maybe pre-Win 7 release? As with any other computer product - updates for products are downloadable at the manufacturer's website.
