Hello,
Just wondering if any networking gurus could help me with this issue.
I'm trying to map one of the shared folders on my Linkstation at home to my machine at work, just like mapping a network drive on a lan.
I've googled around a bit, and most forums people are talking about a VPN, which is way more trouble than I was looking to get into.
Hopefully the solution is something simple, i.e. mapping to \\ext.ernal.ip.add\BuffaloNAS\sharedfolder\, and then I'd enter my login info like I would on my home network.
I'm assuming I'll have to do some port forwarding, which is not a problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and will surely save me having to collaborate with this idiot I work with. I'm sure you all understand.
Thanks in advance,
Chris
Unfortunately you will have to VPN. Other than that we have the Web Access feature but you cannot Map the Drive.
Right, just the answer I didn't want. Sometimes I hate the internet. :smileywink: Thanks for the reply.
Why do you need to map it? what I did was to access it via FTP, so I can still save the files without much hassle using office applications. maybe this can work for you as well
That is a great suggestion! FTP is very easy to use and they have some pretty good FTP clients.
