You need to replace the HD that has failed and restructure the RAID.

I restarted the unit today - I now got the following 2 emails.

RAID re-build notice

Target array:System field (md0)

Target disk:Disk 2

RAID array re-build has started.

Followed by:

RAID re-build notice

Target array:System field (md0)

Target disk:Disk 2

RAID array re-build is complete.

I am backing up the system now, then I was going to run the raid tests - if it passes all tests, do you think I still need to replace the HD?

If so, the system uses a Samsung HD501LJ - however, when I do a websearch on this drive there appears to be several different sub-models of this drive - what do I buy to replace it? Thanks.

The Hard Drive has failed.  You will need to replace the HD with anything that matches the same capacity and the same specs written on the HD.

I pulled the disk - it is a SAMSUNG HD501LJ/JP1 - I can find a similar disk (appears to have the same specs) - called a HD501LJ (not /JP1) or HD501LJ/C - will these HD's substitute?

Thanks again.
