Title: LS-XHL Disk Error
Post by: terrible on January 13, 2010, 07:53:03 AM

Hi Experts,

I have had Linkstation Pro (LS-XHL) 2TB and it started to report Disk Error. Some files cannot be read. This happened twice already. Last time, I erase all data and reset to factory default. And it worked for a month, then started happening the same thing again.

Can we somehow format the data disk and let it marks the bad sectors (like the old days) ? If I remember correctly, last time I also tried formatting the disk from the menu and it took 3-4 days, so I interrupted it.

Please advise the proper way to reformat and check for bad sectors, and reset back to factory default.

Thanks,

/Terrible

I think there is most likely an issue with the disk.  If the unit is under warranty (I assume it is) I would contact support for a replacement.

To format the XHL go to System > Restore/format and then click on "format linkstation"
