Title: My Buffalo Ministation Model HD-PF250U2 is not detected by windows xp and How to recover data?
Post by: attskg on January 12, 2010, 02:48:46 PM

Hello All,

I have a Buffalo Ministation Model : HD-PF250U2/BK which is working fine in my laptop and in desktop with windows xp.

Suddenly it is not detected in windows explorer showing only the drive letter and not showing the drive label and also size of the disk.

When I click on the buffalo disk drive it showing me a pop up "Do you want to format it now" message.

In windows Computer Management>Disk management screen it is showing the buffalo disk drive name and the free size as 100% and also it is healthy.I was having data around 180 GB. When I right click on the buffalo drive and click "Properties" it shows used space as 0 bytes and free space 0 bytes.

Please help me to fix this and recover my data.

Thanks in advance.

It sounds like you have had some file corruption.  The only option for data recovery would be to recover from your backups or contact a 3rd party data recovery company.  To fix the problem you simply need to format it, but that may also make it harder to recover the data.
