What is the maximum hard drive size the firmware supports?
There shouldn't be a limit to what the firmware supports, up to 1 TB has been tested. You should be aware though that swapping out the original drive will void your warranty.
I too have an LS-250Gl Pro, long out of warranty & the fish has out grown the tank. I would like to replace the drive with a WD 10001FLAS 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0/Gb HD.
Any problem forseable problem?
Thanx,
OT
You will have to use the TFTP software to load the boot files on the drive
if you search the forum for TFTP you will find a link.
I found the FTP link for getting the TFTP software, now how do I use it?
I'm upgrading a LS-250GL to a 750GB drive...
Hi
How exactly did you do this for your 750Gb hard drive to go into your linkstation without faults - im needing to do it with either a 500gb or a 1tb
many thanks for telling me
regards
steve
You just need to connect and replace the original HDD. But this is not supported and since it will void your warranty please go elsewhere for more information. I will tell you that after you replace the HDD you will need to use the TFTP procedure to get the firmware back onto the unit.

Thank you
I will try and get my head around all that but just to mention the warranty has long expired so it is far too late for it to be affected on this unit, so feel free to tell all...
also a bit concerned with putting in the old h/d then the firmware as that old drive will be removed and once again will take the firmware away with the old h/d wont it?
regards
steve
The firmware is stored on the drive as well as the case.
Many thanks all done now with 500Gb in and working
do you think a 1.5Tb would would with the same procedure or do these LS-GL have a limit?
thanks
Steve
Matt_M answered that earlier:

So it SHOULD work, but hasnt been tested.
Max is 2tb WD
Tried & tested...currently using it as a backup to my TS-X..
