Title: TS1400D Stuck in Emergency Mode
Post by: jshakour on December 14, 2021, 09:57:11 AM
Hello Everyone,

I have a TS1400D that is in emergency mode. I do not care about the data on the disks as I plan on wiping them anyway. How do I get the device out of emergency mode? I see it in navigator and its IP address although the IP address is not what I had set it to be.

reinstalling the firmware can typically get it out of emergency mode.

There's a pinned thread with some details on starting over with blank drives, if your drives are okay you might be able to skip to the firmware install part and try installing without any of the debug options. If that fails you may want to run diagnostics on the drives and start over with them blank.

The thread is here:

You've a bad disk so you've to replace it and then rebuild the partition table using the firmware updater, this will erase the data. Hope you had a backup.

im not worried about the data and actaully I would like to increase the disk size. Am I able to replace all the drives at once?

Yeah but you'll need the recovery image for the unit since the OS would be on the original disks.

How do I go about that?

There's a process outlined here:

This model is easier than most since the device can automatically install from the on-board NAND

I replaced drive 1 and I got into the Tera Station.

Now I am dealing a few more errors. I am trying to update the firmware but it wont allow me. keeps throwing me a system error and I cannot mount the array. I am going to purchase all new drives and keep my fingers crossed.
