I got a "new" Linkstation Duo Pro from an RMA since one of the drives had failed in my brand new unit.
This unit doesn't look quite new - looks refurbished. Didn't come in the original box.
So - I have no data on it all so no need to worry about deleting all the data on the drives as there isn't any.
I switched the RAID setup from RAID0 to RAID1 (not sure why RAID0 is the default - if you want safety - you want RAID1)
After it finishes, the RAID array 1 is "Not Configured"
I click on that, select RAID1 and click on "Setup RAID array" with both internal disks checked.
Click on the confirmation number.
Wait about 10min for it to finish building the array.
The Duo reboots itself
and says"Error has occurred in RAID Array1"
I click on the error and it brings me to the DIsk Manegement screen where is says:
An error in a RAID Array has been detected.
Select restructuring disk and click `Restructuring RAID Array`.
I check the disk2 box and then the Restructure Raid Array button
I enter the confirmation number and it says:
Start rebuilding RAID Array.
During RAID Array rebuilding, other settings cannot be modified.
File sharing is also disabled.
This process takes another 10min or so and I get:
| Rebuilding the RAID Array has completed successfully. |
Which then takes me to a screen that says:
What the heck is rearing???
After a few minutes, the Linkstation just reboots itself - way less time than the predected time of 1231.8 minutes:
It comes back and says:
Error has occurred in RAID Array1
If I click on that, I get back to the DIsk Management page and it wants to restructure the array again.
If I don't start it doing that right away, then it will reboot itself again.
At the end of this, if I go back and reset the raid array to RAID0, the unit seems to be fine and I have 2T of disk available. So I think it's not a disk problem???
Am I not switching to RAID 1 properly somehow?
This unit has the latest firmware - 3.10.

We apologize for the inconvience but please call our support line.
Unfortunately it sounds like the unit has a bad HDD as well. I am sorry for the inconvenience, but I would contact support for another RMA replacement.
