I have a TS1200D with two 2G hard drives.   I am pretty sure I can upgrade the to two 4G hard drives.  They are in RAID 0 configuration (as far as I know)   They function as a total of 4G.

Is there a way to backup the current drive to the new 4G drive?  Trying to avoid having to backup everything fresh. 

If not---it will be OK. 

Also... can someone confirm the process?   Can I replace Both Drives at once, access device through web interface and then format and mount drives? Or do I need to do 1 drive at a time... i.e. does the NAS OS reside on the drives.

Sorry if this does not make sense.... I know just enough to be dangerous.

Especially with RAID0 there isn't a simple way to upgrade the drives like you want.

Your best bet is to backup what you have to some other location then start over with the larger drives and then copy the data back.

If you don't have the space elsewhere you could hook up your old drives to a linux system and use that to copy the data back to the NAS, but that depends on having a system with space for 2 spare drives and a bit of linux knowledge.

No one can really guarantee any given model drive will work with these devices apart from whatever Buffalo certified back in the day.....however they seem to work with most sata drives, even those much newer than the devices themselves.

These devices can boot from GPT partitioned drives, so they shouldn't have the 2TB drive limit that some older devices had (even those could sometimes be worked around).

These devices are running 32-bit ARM which limits them to 16TB per volume. So theoretically you could have 4 16TB drives configured individually but only 4x4TB drives in a 16TB RAID0 etc.

I have briefly tested some WD blue/red/etc drives in these devices up to 8tb and they seemed to work.

Hi....Utilizing a dependable impermanent spot to store your present Buffalo documents move them over to another envelope called Buffalo Files. After the documents are moved over erase the current Buffalo records similarly as an insurance and void the Buffalo garbage bin organizer.
