Title: validating replacement hard drive
Post by: Rob-WPI on July 15, 2021, 09:38:43 AM
I have an out of warranty TeraStation 5000N WSS Series NAS that recently suffered a failed drive. The model is WS5400DN0804W2. In haste, I originally ordered a WD Red 2TB NAS drive thinking that would be fine. I have since found the site buffalo provides to lookup replacement drives and determined that the recommended replacement part is OP-HD2.0WR. I'm wondering if I should take the time to return what I purchased and buy this one, or if the WD Red would suffice. Specs don't look all that different, but since I don't have much experience with this particular NAS, just looking for opinions on whether I should purchase the buffalo part vs the WD.

Once the specs match (RPM, size and cache) it should be fine.

That may indeed be WD Reds in there.
