PC with Vista
I've created a folder with Access Restrictions to a specific Group or user but it doesn't work in my PC with Vista. In other PC with XP I can access it. Could that be the problem? The Vista OS? The folder is not shared true web access. And I'm working with the administration group.
The message error says: I may not have permission to use this network resource. It also states "multiple connections to a server or shared resource by same user, using more than one user name is not allowed.
Also, I can't download the firmware update because the system can't recognize the serial number. Weird.
What s/n do you have? Also are you mapping to multiple folders with multiple users from the same machine, because that will be a problem. It will save one user as being logged in to windows and the buffalo device per boot up. If you created another user in the gui for a root level folder and went to a new machine it would work most of the time.
I'm using Windows Vista and I think I'm only "mapping the default share to a drive letter". Nothing else.
Our network has pc's and macs but that specific folder is only for the pcs.
The pc with XP system can access the folder with the user and password.
I've create a new user but still doesn't work.
Is this the problem?
Buffalo NAS products natively support NTLM. Since Vista by default only supports NTLMv2, users will have to make a change to Vista install for it to work with Buffalo NAS products.

To setup Access Restrictions you will first need to log into the Buffalo Nas. Once you are logged in, goto Shared Folders, and click on the share folder you want to set access restrictions on. The page that loads next will have the options for access restrictions on it. You must set access restrictions to enable. There are three columns, one for Read Only, one for All Users, and one for Read/Write. Move the users from the all users column into the appropriate column. When you are done you need to click apply.

Yes, I access the Buffalo Nas and did all the correct operations.
And I also set the NTLM 2 value for 1 and didn't work. I still can't access a share folder with the restrictions on my Vista computer. But I can access it using a XP computer. So I don´t know what kind of problem could it be.
Reinitilize the unit through the user interface and then set everything back up now that you have set the NTLM to 1.
