Title: XFS Errors in log : XFS: possible memory allocation deadlock in kmem_alloc (mode:0x2d0)
Post by: chris0583 on January 03, 2010, 07:15:35 PM

I have been having some strange issues with one of my Terrastation Pro II's.  I looked thru the logs and I found two errors.

XFS: possible memory allocation deadlock in kmem_alloc (mode:0x2d0)

sde1: rw=0, want=2201234265160, limit=2344252932
attempt to access beyond end of device

I ran a check disk and a raid scan and i am still gettting the same errors.

I filed a bug with sgi and they replied that this particular isssue is adddressed in Kernel 2.6.17 and above.  I can only gather the TS is at a rev lower than this.  Is there a fix / workaround for this?

Thanks in advance.

I doubt that the issue is caused by a bug in XFS, especially since this is the first report of this that I've seen. Most likely, the hard drive is experiencing problems. sde denotes a USB drive (internals are sda-sdd), so start by trying another USB drive.
