Title: Terastation TS1400R Supported HDD Capacities
Post by: Berti-itstore on April 15, 2021, 10:27:58 AM
I just purchased a TS1400R 4-drive TeraStation without hard drives and will be purchasing 4 hard drives to populate the NAS unit.

Looking at the specs it appears that the original unit was sold with only up to 4TB capacity drives yielding a 16TB total effective capacity.

However, I'm wondering, with the latest Buffalo firmware updates for the device, if the TS1400R will support up to 8TB hard drives.

4TB is all that it will hold.  I'm told it's due to it being a 32bit system....  If you get it to work with bigger drives please advise.

It can use bigger drives, there's just a 16tb volume limit.

You could put in 4x8tb drives and create a 16tb RAID10 for example

Interesting.  Buffalo told me when I asked that the largest drive was capped at 4TB.  being able to double that to 8 creating raid 10 would be great!
