Title: Problem getting an APC UPS to work with a Terastaion TS-RXL
Post by: BillP on March 22, 2021, 09:23:10 AM
I've been trying to get an APC UPS working with my Terastation. I have a couple of APC UPS devices - a Smart-UPS 600 and a Smart-UPS 700. I wanted to use the 700 but I can't get it to work. I have connected the UPS to the serial port using the proper cable.

When I connect the 700 and set the Terastation to "Smart signal", nothing happens if the power fails. If I use the 600, the Terastation shuts down properly (I think). The Terastation goes into a mode where it's not actually shut down completely - "Dependent mode". It doesn't wake up when power is restored; you have to press the button. I'm happy with that.

I have tried the other APC mode but it doesn' work with either UPS. If the 600 is connected the other option is not available.

I have a couple of  questions.

1. Is this how it's supposed to work?

2. Any idea why it doesn't work with the 700 UPS ? It's a more recent model.

Thanks in advance.

Bill.
