Title: LS220DE in Emergency Mode and can't do firmware update
Post by: jzoudavy@gmail.com on February 27, 2021, 10:49:25 PM
Hi

I have an LS220DE that, after a power outage, is now in emergency mode and can't do firmware updates. I found this posting: http://commonmanrants.blogspot.com/2014/01/buffalo-linkstation-partition-not-found.html and it talked about editing the LS updater's ini file to bring up debug mode but even then my LS updater doesn't show a debug mode at all.

How do i get my LS220DE out of debug mode? I have data on it and I don't want to lose it.

Are you using one or two disks?

I also have a LS220de which has recently gone into Emergency Mode. I have tried to do a similar debug with the LSUpdater software.
I tried this edit to the ini file:-

[Flags]
VersionCheck = 0
NoFormatting = 1

[SpecialFlags]
Debug=1

I am able to enter debug mode but I don't get the 'rebuild partition table' option, I get 'Run Complete Format' (which is greyed out) and 'Delete User Partition' which I obviously don't want to do.

When I try to update, I get this error message "Partition not found. Aborting update"

I've also seen this edit mentioned somewhere:-

[Flags]
VersionCheck = 0
NoFormatting = 0

[SpecialFlags]
Debug=1

This gives similar results.

I have a single 1TB disc installed

The 2-bay devices will typically fail to install the firmware with only one drive.

There's a way to force a 4-bay device to install with only 2 but i'm not sure if that works with only one drive.

There are notes about how that works here:
