Title: Afraid my DriveStation HD-CEU2 is bricked
Post by: ThanosIsKing on December 28, 2009, 09:58:04 AM

I recieved a 1TB DriveStation HD-CEU2 for christmas last year. It has been working great, but just recently I have been unable to connect to it. When I plug it in it starts warming up like it's starting to work, but shortly thereafter I hear a tiny grinding noise. I can sometimes get my computer to recognize it (I'm using Ubuntu 9.04), but on those rare occassions I always have to wait somewhere around 5 minutes, then it tells me that my external can't be mounted. I was using it to store almost everything, since my computer's internal hard drive is way too small for my needs. How can I fix my external?

Data recovery sounds to be the best bet.  When there is a physcial failure inside the hd then there is a good chance of data loss.  Drive savers and ess data recovery are two good companies.
