Title: Linkstation DLNA with Samsung TV
Post by: slevar on December 26, 2009, 06:24:26 PM

I recently purchased a Limitations Quad (LS-QL/R5) to use as a media server with my Samsung UN55B7000 LED TV.  I choose the Linkstation because of it's DLNA certification, which I expected would work with the Samsung since it too is DLNA certified.  I was obviously wrong about this ....

I've called Buffalo technical support and they informed me that I can only connect to the Linkstation through my PC using the software provided by Samsung.  This did not sound right and come to find out the Samsung software does not allow a mapped network drive to be shared via their software.  Based on some of the information I've been able to find it appears that the Samsung TV will connect to a Linkstation, but it appears as though some have had to hack into the device and reconfigure the DLNA server software.

So far here's what I've been experiencing:

The Samsung TV works great accessing content off of my PC using the software provided by Samsung

The Linkstation does not discover the Samsung TV nor does the TV see the Linkstation via the Media Player menu on the TV

I've updated the Linkstation firmware to 1.10, now when I "Enable" the media server and "Refresh client list" it switched back to a "Disabled" status.

Does anyone know how to reconfigure the Linkstation so that the Media Server will operate properly?
