Title: E21: what is "phy chip"?
Post by: oscar on December 22, 2009, 04:27:36 PM

I'm having some trouble with my LinkStation Quad NAS.

First  problem, the shares disappeared, and I saw the red led blinking 2 long and 1 short (but with the blue led fix on).

What does it mean "phy chip"?

Thanks!

I don't have that in my error logs, where did you purchase this product?

I read it on yours KB#2, but may be I'm wrong...

Today error changed: led are blue fix and red blink 2 long & 2 short: in KB#2 it indicates a "mount error" (that can be related to the absence of the share...), but in NASNavigator I see a "FAN Error"...

May I have a shell access to see logs?

Thanks

Those diagnostic codes are for the Pro Duo/Live not the Quad.  If you are getting 4 red blinks it mean there's a RAID problem, 3 means theres a partion problem with the hard drive.  It sounds like the best idea would be to rebuild the array (this will result in data loss).

There is a complete list of blinking led error code for Quad? I seen that because it differ the long blink and the short blink...

Now I want to rebuild the array, but in web admin, also logging as "admin", I cannot click anywhere, the menu is not working.

Does it show the firmware version in the NASNAVI?

I solved destroying and rebuilding the array.

To save data, I needed to login as root, via telnet, into the NAS, and rsync data elsewhere.

Thanks.

Please understand that we do not condone or support the use of Telnet.

Is there a master list somewhere of the LinkStation Quad blink codes?  Mine is doing 2 long, 1 short on the Yellow light...

I apologize for the inconvience but there is no 2long and 1short with a yellow light for this unit.
