Title: Buffalo HD-CELU2 Keep Changing Its IP Address
Post by: bmalanowsky on December 21, 2009, 01:11:59 PM

Here is what I have:

Host Name  HD-CELU2-807C
Model Name  HD-CELU2
IP Address  192.168.1.250
HDD Space Used  15.38 GB / 465.76 GB ( 3.30% )
HD Mode  Ethernet
Firmware Version  BUF-CELU2-1.4.7 LOADER 3.5W1.9

This has been in place for a year.  All 9 of our computers save to this.  It has a static IP assigned.  All computers are assigned via DHCP through the router.

Recently, every week or so, the Buffalo will change its IP address to obtain from DHCP.  Once I set it back t static it is ok.

Any idea why this would be happening?

I've never heard of that before.. Does it seem like the other settings are also resetting?

No, I have never heard of that before.  If you set it on a static it should remain on the static unless reset.

I dont know what kind of router you have but mine has a setting where you can reserve the ipaddress. Its called DHCP reservation and what it does is that when a product restarts or requests an ipaddress from the router, the router checks its mac address and knows that it should be 192.168.1.250 in your case. My router is a Dlink,  you might want to check for that it might help you keep it on the same address.
