I have a TeraStation model HS-DHTGL/R5 running 2.14 version of firmware.
Recently I decided to put images of blu-ray movies on the TeraStation disk. I am using ArcSoft Theatre software to play the blu-ray movies. This works well, but occasionally I get pauses when watching the movies. If I copy the movie disk image to local C:\ drive then this problem doesn't occur anymore.... I was therefore thinking of using offline folders to make sure that disk access was always using local copy, but the movie can stay on the TeraStation in central location.
I changed the shared folder configuration so that instead of Disable Offline Folders, it now says Automatically Cache Files. However, I am unable to make the folder shared on Windows client. I right click on the folder and there is no option to make it offline. I am running Windows 7 on the HTPC where I need to get faster file i/o. Why is this not working ?
BTW. I setup DLNA folder and tested this, and this works with pictures and music (without folder.jpg) but Windows 7 Media Center does not support DLNA for Movies, and I doubt that the ArcSoft software would either. I am therefore exploring ways to improve performance of file i/o over network (e.g. SMB file folder).
I tried accessing one of my shared folders from an XP client and from this I was able to make the files available offline. I am therefore thinking the issue with offline folders is that it is not working when workstation is running Windows 7. Has anybody else running Windows 7 been able to make offline files work ?
