Title: Terastation HS-DHTGL/R5 2.14 - PCAST Error
Post by: Psycloud on December 19, 2009, 03:07:53 AM

Hi All

Sorry to say my first post is due a problem but here we go...

I've had my Terastation HS-DHTGL/R5 (firmware 2.14)  running for about 9 months trouble free then yesterday I tried to access the media server from our PS3 (as usual) and initially it couldn't see the Terastation, so I rebooted the TS and the media server appeared but the database was slightly out of date.  I connected my PC to the PCAST client and clicked REFRESH (as I have done countless times before) only to receive the following error:

Setting... Please wait...
Software error:
Not connect at module/BufPCastDLNAControl.pm line 98.
For help, please send mail to the webmaster (admin@localhost), giving this error message and the time and date of the error.

Software error:
Can't use an undefined value as a symbol reference at module/BufPCastDLNAControl.pm line 104.

For help, please send mail to the webmaster (admin@localhost), giving this error message and the time and date of the error.

I rebooted and tried again, same errors - and the PS3 couldn't find it again, and when it did it kept complaining about DLNA protocol error and wouldn't play anything off the media server :smileymad:

This morning I reset the Terastation Factory defaults but I'm still getting the PCAST error, even if I change the folder from which to pick the media.

Is there some way to repair PCAST, or the PCAST database?  I've got 1.5Tb of media on this unit and I am slightly concerned that I can no longer play it.

I read somewhere else that the database is stored in a root partition on the drive and this can become full (my TS is 95% full at the moment).

Any help gratefully received.

David

95% full on a raid 5, not very good for safety of the data or speed, it's how you corrupt data..  Cut that down to below 80% and see what you get.
