Title: Raid Error - Disc 3
Post by: marinakorp on December 04, 2009, 07:52:36 AM

Good Morning,

I have a Linkstation Quad 2T ... running whatever firmware came from the factory (bought it last week), RAID 5

Connected to a UPS backup

I was unable to find the LS on the network.

After connecting the LS directly to a laptop, I was able to launch the Navigator.

I do not have the EXACT wording (as I am at work) ... Error in Raid Array Drive 3.

I pulled the cover off, and sure enough the light was different for drive 3 (I am color blind...1,2,4 were one density of pigmentation...and 3 was different)

The blue light was blinking...then blinked a different color / error... VERY quickly...

Do I need to replace the failed drivedrives with a 500 drive with a 500G "different" manufacture that the toshiba?

Do I need to do a firmware update?

I am painfully aware of not using a single device for a backup solution... and the information stored on the device is not unique, and can be re-built (will take some time) ... I would prefer to not have to wipe the drive clean and re-start over again.... especially since only one drve is in fail (hopefully thie is why I have it in RAID 5!!!)

Any assistance or recommendations would be appreciated.

You do have a 1 year warranty with a valid proof of purchase, call in and we can get you setup with a replacement drive, shouldn't have to reflash the firmware after replacing the drive and restrucuturing the new drive into the array.
