Title: LS-C1.0TL not compatible with Windows 7
Post by: olblueyez on November 29, 2009, 07:23:54 PM

My linkstation is not operable with a computer that was recently upgraded to Windows 7. Nasnavi will cause the drive to turn on but after 10 minutes or so the linkstation will shut down. Even when I manually power up the drive  it will not remain acessible. Everything is working fine on my Vista machine that is wired to the network but the wireless notebook refuses to operate with your Linkstation device. The linkstation has the latest firmware and I even restored defualt settings per another post but to no avail. I have owned this for less than a year and I must say I am not impressed. Even on my Vista machine the drive is not available for backup programs (windows or otherwise) unless it is accessed using Explorer first.

There could be an issue with the device, if you have the latest firmware on it along with resetting the device back to factory defaults.  If you are mapping using the ip address in the search box on both vista and win7 machines such as .  Start - Search - \\ip address ex. \\192.168.1.4.  Press enter, right click on the share and map network drive.  Also make sure you are not having any fire wall programs or anti virus programs blocking connection to the device.  I was able to use the nas navigator (newer version on dowload page) on a bunch of different variations of windows 7, ie beta, ultimate, enterprise, 32 and 64bit and also be able to map and access our chl.

If you are mapping everything right and the device still turns off on the manual setting with nas navi installed on both machines, get your proof of purchase and call in for a replacement.

Linkstation still turning its self off when my laptop is on and running Nasnavi in Vista SP1 compatibility mode. I cant finish a backup and it seems I am stuck with an expensive USB drive. Maybe if the Nasnavi software was updated to accomadate the latest version of windows that would be great, right?

You know the firmware hasnt been updated since the beginning of 2009 and the Nasnavi has not been updated since 08-2009 and yet here we are trying to fix a problem that you guys know about and wont fix or dont even know about. Either way this will be my first and last Buffalo product. I have wasted so much time on this, time that the people at Buffalo seem to feel intitled too. This was given to me as a gift last X-mas per my request and here it is less than one year later and it is useless. I guess Buffalo is one of those companies that doesnt care about repeat buisness as long as they get to stick it to you once.

Would it not be easier to just make the necessary changes to the firmware and or Nasnavi? Don't Buffalo customers deserve as much? I guess my help session has ended because I pointed out some glaring defects in the way this is being handled by Buffalo huh?

The CHL is compatable with windows 7.  I have verified that you can access it by its IP address.  I will try the NASNAVI tonight on 7 Home 64 bit.  Also I am not sure where you got that you "pointed out glaring defects" by searching for "windows 7" in our forums.

I was mistaken, it is an LS-C1.0TL, not a CH model. The firmware has not been updated since 03/09. The biggest problem is it will not stay on when using AUTO. After a short period of time it will start blinking blue and then red/orange, and then shut down.

Windows 7 is not mentioned in the firmware.

To keep the unit on on while in the auto mode, you will need the NASNAVI running on one of the computers.  The NASNAVI works fine with windows 7 (tested it personally)

Thanks for looking into that for me, NOT!!! I returned the unit to Buffalo and after waiting a couple of weeks they sent me a refurb WITH PARTS RATTLING AROUND INSIDE THE CASE!!! I CANT EVEN PLUG IT IN AND TRY IT OUT!!!

OBVIOUSLY BUFFALO HAS DECIDED THAT STEALING FROM THEIR CUSTOMERS IS THE BEST WAY TO GO. NOW NOT ONLY HAVE I HAD A SEMI OPERATIONAL UNIT FOR ONE YEAR BUT BUFFALO HAS MANAGED TO WASTE AS TREMENDOUS AMOUNTS OF MY TIME BUT NOW I HAVE A UNIT IN WORSE SHAPE THAN THE ONE I SENT THEM!!!

MAYBE YOU GUYS NEED TO GET YOUR **bleep** TOGETHER.`
