This is on an XP Pro notebook with all the latest updates. I've had the LinkStation for years and I was always able to see it using Nasi Nav or it's web page. I have the IP set to 192.168.1.101 which I know because I documented it back when I set it up. Now, all those tools don't show it as being online, although I can still view files and map it to a drive in an explorer window. The Nasi Nav just shows an empty window and the web page times out.
I also have had an HD-HS1.0TIU2/FUS DriveStation for awhile (hooked up to the linkstation) and just added an HD-CX2.0TU2 DriveStation to the LinkSTation. I can see and map those drives as well. The LS has the latest firmware, 1.5. I've tried rebooting several times everything including the router.
Please help. The LS has everything of value to me on it (with a backup on the first DriveStation) and it's too much worry knowing that my little network isn't working perfectly. Thanks.
Try doing a direct connect to your linkstation with no usb hard drives connected. Then try to boot up your computer in safe mode with networking ( f8 key during startup). See if the nas navigator is able to see it. See if you can ping it. If you can see it with the nas navi and the firmware version says - - then flash the firmware while directly connected. Download it from our download section under support. See if that helps. Holding the init button during power up will help if you can't see it to bring it to factory defaults.
Right now, I'm in safe mode with the LS directly connected and no USB drives, and Nas navi still doesn't see it. I tried holding the reset button while booting the LS. I can't ping it. I can STILL see my files though. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Bump ^^^
Does this mean my LinkStation is dying and I should look for another? Or what?
It seems that you are trying to access the unit VIA Nas Navi? Try this and see if it works. Type the IP Address in the address bar of your web browser and see if prompts you for a username and password.
Also is the unit showing any error info light? Is the power LED solid? It might not even be booting up.
Thanks, I tried the url (192.168.1.127) in my browser but it came up with "page not found." In addition, I can't see my files anymore when the linkstation is plugged directly in my computer. Also, I changed the network setup to "assign IP automatically" instead of using the above IP, and the Nas Nav program sees my linkstation, but I still can't access files.
The power light is solid and there is no error light. The drive is still good, I think. I'm going to try to find another computer to plug it into just for giggles. So glad I have two full back ups of it on two other Buffalo USB drives.
If you have it directly connected then you should set a static IP address on your Local Area Connection.
Follow the link below and see if that helps.
